Fall cardigan

Hi friends! I’m starting something a little new today with you guys! I’ve mainly kept things solely fashion/beauty-focused here on the blog, but lately I’ve been feeling the itch to begin sharing more about what’s happening in my life…..you know, goals, dreams, tips/tricks and any other little nuggets of wisdom/experience that I think you might enjoy reading about. Hope that’s ok with you! 🙂

So since it’s fall, today I’m starting with some of the things I’m looking forward to doing/experiencing in the area. While my list is for local things here in the Baton Rouge area, hopefully it will inspire you to check out some similar ventures in your own area.

So here we go…

1) Take an overnight train ride out of town for the weekend

This has been something I’ve wanted to do for quite some time now. It may be a little naive to think it’s going to be a luxurious adventure with gorgeous country views and fancy dinner carts, but I still want to give it a go! Ideally, I’d like for our little family to maybe try out a weekend trip to Memphis. I understand there is one that leaves out of New Orleans, which is under an hour from here. Definitely do-able. After the summer’s heat, I think it would be a great way to welcome in fall.

2) A Night out at a Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre

Ok, I honestly can’t really understand my longing to attend one of these murder mystery dinners because ya’ll, I get scared at just about ANYTHING. Ha! But, I just think it would be so entertaining to go with another couple and dress up in character as part of the festivities! Am I crazy?! If you’re in the Baton Rouge/New Orleans area, this one looks like a ton of fun. I figure with Halloween just around the corner, this would be a memorable, “kinda” spooky-ish night out. Oh and another thing to try out along the same lines is something like this. I hear they are a lot of fun for the grownups!

3) High Tea with girlfriends at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans

This was on my birthday wishlist this past year and it just didn’t happen, but I’m determined to gather up some girls soon and raise our pinkies up with some delicious teas, cocktails, sandwiches and petite pastries at the gorgeous Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans. Maybe add a little downtown shopping after lunch. I think it sounds like a stellar way to spend a Saturday.

4) Outstanding in the Field

I had not heard of this until a sweet(and literal world traveler!) friend of mine moved here in town last fall. If you were once like me and have no idea what the heck “outstanding in the field” is, it’s an outdoor event that begins just before dusk with a reception of sorts and mingling with other attendees, then a guided tour of the host farm/or site. After that, the tour ends at an enormous table where guests enjoy dinner together prepared by the guest chef of the evening.

Ok, I don’t know if I’m making that sounds super fun or not, but seriously, take at peek around on their site and you’ll see what I mean. There’s not one scheduled in my area until the new year, but check and see if there might be one near you this fall. They travel to locations all over the country. Let me know if you go to one! I want all the details! 🙂

5) Wine Walk at Nottoway Plantation

I have a serious love for old vintage things. Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been fascinated by the idea of living in a another time(past, not future) which, I guess, is what makes me love visiting historic plantation homes so much. For the past few years, my husband and I have made it a tradition to spend our anniversary weekend at a nearby old plantation. Seriously, it’s my favorite. So, I recently saw that my very favorite one, Nottoway, is hosting a Wine Walk at the end of the month. Wine sampling, hors’ d oeuvres, a live band in the ballroom, costumed antebellum characters….ahhh…my kind of entertainment, you guys. Check to see if there might be any neat venues holding wine walks in your area this fall!

.

And there you have it, a few of the things I hope to experience this fall season. What are you looking forward to this season? I’d love to hear about it! Let me know down below or shoot me an email!

Thanks so much for reading, friends! Have a great night! xo
