Let’s face it, guys. The holidays can take a serious toll on our girlish figures. Between the holiday parties, holiday baking and the stress eating happening, November and December can run off the rails real quick, or at least for me they can and generally do…some years are worse than others.

So, like most folks, I’m usually playing catch up in the gym come late December/early January. BUT, while I’m working to get back in shape and kind of detoxing from all the non-healthy eating that may or may not have taken place, I still want to get dressed and feel presentable in the meantime, ya know? A girl still deserves to feel cute even when she’s had a little more eggnog than she should have, right?! Ha!

Are you wondering what this all has to do with today’s post? Well, I’ll tell you! Monochromatic dressing can be your best friend when you’re not feeling your absolute best, shape-wise, you guys. I chose all black here, but really, any darker hue will give the same slimming effect.

My trick for dressing all in one color without feeling too “one note” is to add in different textures. So for this look, I paired up velvet, faux leather and a chunky knit to break things up a bit. And if you’re still feeling a bit plain, throw in a fun statement coat like this faux fur leopard coat. It instantly adds an element of polish to your monochromatic outfits AND it’ll make you feel a little Old Hollywood glam in the process!

Hey, be sure to keep scrolling for the weekly linkup below and thanks so much for reading tonight!
