Sharing a few tips for mixing up prints today with you guys. There are a ton of ideas out there on how to achieve the perfect mix of prints when it comes to style, but I’m just going to start out with my top 3 tips here today. If you haven’t ventured into the world of print mixing, try starting out with just these three basic ideas to get your feet wet.

Let’s go.

1. Match colors, not prints.

So, when you’re trying to decide what two or more prints to mix together, work to make sure they share at least one common color. This adds to the sense that they belong together, visually. Now, that one common color doesn’t *have* to be the exact same hue throughout.  Just try to keep it in the same family if you can.

2. Break up the look with solids.

When you’re pairing up different prints together, sometimes adding some solid pieces help to tone down the “busyness” of your look. So try adding in a solid colored bag or shoes to ground the look a bit more. A solid wider belt also helps to distribute the prints a little more as well at the waistline.

3. Treat stripes and leopard print as a neutral.

Ok, if you haven’t already been beaten over the head with this style fact, let me be the one to do it! Train your brain right now to view leopard prints and stripes as a base that goes with everything. Don’t even question it. Just do it, mmkay? You’ll appear uber chic and on top of your fashion game with all your buddies. You are so welcome. 😉
