New York state of mind…

Ahhh….looking through all these photos is already making me SO nostalgic for everything Soho and New York, in general. For me, I don’t always soak in things as they are happening. It’s often not until a few days or weeks have passed that I truly get those happy memory butterflies, as I like to call them.

After anticipating my first trip to New York Fashion Week for so long now, I can honestly say it was well worth all the effort put into planning out all the details to make it happen. Pete Rizzo, if you’re reading this, I truly appreciate you always supporting my dreams and making it feasible for me to do amazing trips like these! In other words, thanks for shelling out the big dough and taking care of our boys while I’m out gallivanting around! Ha!! Love you so big!

These ladies and I had the time of our lives and were the perfect match for five nights in a cramped hotel room with one very tiny bathroom. Between the morning people and the night owls, it worked out great.

While I still have several other more casual looks to share with you from that week, I thought I’d start off with my two party looks from the Style Collective party and the Rewardstyle party.

For the Style Collective party, I went with this blush satin midi dress that I was honestly head over heels with the minute I saw it. I guess a part of me will always be a “pink girl”, but I now find that I lean toward more subtle, muted versions of it.

I opted to carry my favorite leopard clutch, these nude colored tassel earrings and some classic black sandal heels. Looking at the photos now, I guess I might have been subconsciously channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw. Ha!

Keepin’ it simple…

For my particular body type, I always feel like keeping things kind of simple, yet still sophisticated, works best and makes me feel the most confident. And let me tell you, when you’re planning outfits for NYFW, choosing things that are going to make you feel the very best about yourself are so crucial….or at least for me it is!

Guys, it can be super intimidating to walk into a room with 200+ gorgeous, stylish women.

So my method for not completely ‘running for the hills’ are 1) a silent prayer for confidence and to feel good in my own skin before I walk in and 2) plan out in advance what I will be wearing and TRYING IT ON to be absolutely sure. I pretty much know the minute I put it all on if it’s going to give me that right feeling. 🙂

So, the second party look I brought was this cropped wide leg jumpsuit with lace cutout details. I’ve always loved a cutaway shoulder and I knew the classic black would bring a little bit of that New York chic vibe that I was after.

I did want to also let you know that I’ve tried hard to find some close substitutes for any of the pieces that are, unfortunately, sold out. The blush dress is sold out, for instance, but I’ve linked up an alternate color of the same style. You can find all of those links in the widget at the beginning of this post.

That’s a wrap…

So, there they are…my two more formal party looks from the week. Like I mentioned, while I’ve been sharing peeks here and there of my more casual looks on my Instagram feed, I’ll be doing more in depth blog posts about those as well. I hope you’ll enjoy following along with me as I reminiscence and recap those looks for you here. I’ll share all about what I learned, the places we saw and the what I’ll know when going back next year! 🙂

Thanks so much for reading today! Your support here on the blog is so very much appreciated.
