Here we are once again. The end of another year. I can say without an ounce of hesitation that 2016 has brought me more amazing opportunities for growth than I could have possibly imagined. It’s easy to get bogged down with routine and the little annoyances of daily life, but when you step back and look at the larger picture, this is the time of year that I love the most. As cliche’ as it may sound, I find it to be a great time to reflect on how far you’ve come in the past 365 or so days and all of the wonderful blessings and people that are in your life.

Thinking back to my prayers as 2016 started, it’s been incredible to see how God has worked in my life and forced me to rely solely on Him through several situations that were WAY out of my comfort zone. My blog motto has always been “this is God’s ship, He’s directing it, and I’m just along for the ride”. My continuous prayer is that I’m just staying obedient to His plan for it, what ever that may be.

How are the last days of 2016 going for you? Are you happily ready to close the chapter on it and begin fresh, or do you want to hold on a little tighter to these last few days?

What will you be doing for New Year’s Eve this year? Do you get out and celebrate or do you prefer to stay in and watch the ball drop in your cozy jammies with your family? If there is no rain in the forecast that night, we typically will head to my in-laws to have all the kids do fireworks together. If it’s rainy, we end up huddled up in our house vegging out in front of the tv. So basically, we’re total party animals! Ha!

Sparkle and shine…

If you’re a little more adventurous than we are and are headed somewhere dressy, I’ve pulled together a NYE look for you, complete with pops of shimmer and festive feathers! ‘Cause really, what’s a New Year’s Eve celebration without the sparkle, right?

I’ve had this black feather skirt for a few years now and I’ve been surprised at just how much wear I’ve gotten out of it. It seems to always fit the bill for any winter holiday occasion. I’ve worn it with a graphic tee shirt and leather jacket and I’ve also worn it with crisp white button up blouse and some strappy black pumps. It’s really turned out to be a versatile piece for me. While it’s a few years old now, luckily, I’ve found a very similar version of it, along with some two-piece options that would be great to have as well.
