So, one of the things I said I was going to do more of this year is be a little more transparent..more open with what’s going on with me. So here it is.

I’ve been struggling this week.

Not quite sure why because everything is honestly going great right now in my life and if I had to, I could not come up with a single “real” thing to complain about. For lack of a better word, I’ve just been feeling “blah” for the past few days. Now, part of that may be the sinus infection I’ve been battling, but I think it’s a little deeper than that.

So what I realized this morning is that since the new year began I’ve gotten sucked into the pressures(completely self-imposed, mind you) to keep up and be better…to do better. Now, there is not a thing wrong with me working on improving myself and the things I’m passionate about, per say. But it hit me this morning as I was in my car driving that I’ve been trying to kind of take over what God started here with this blog. Like all of a sudden now that it’s 2017 I can do it better than He had planned for me.

And so in doing that, I’ve been feeling the pressure, instead of what I’m supposed to be doing all along, which is to rest in Him and simply follow where He leads me. That’s it. No Plan B here.

So, once I got knocked over the head with that reminder again today, I did what I always do when I’m in one of those ruts. I turned up the worship tunes to blaring and sang my little heart out (Being in the car is THE best for this…no distractions or judgement on how terribly you sing. God loves me no matter what my voice sounds like, thank you very much! Ha!) Have you tried it? I’m telling you it works. By taking the focus off of myself and placing it back on God, everything seems to get back in balance for me and once again the mountains feel more like the mole hills they really are. 🙂

How’s your week going so far? Better yet, how is 2017 going for you so far? We are now 17 days in….are you feeling any of the New Year resolution pressures kicking in? We women can sure set some lofty goals for ourselves, can’t we? Ha! Be kind to yourselves, ladies. Goals are great and we should have have a few lined up, but try not let it take over every aspect of your life, mmkay? 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing! It can be so hard to put yourself out there, but it’s nice to know I’m not the only putting too much pressure on myself at the beginning of the year. Also, love the dress & scarf – great inspo for this warm Louisiana winter!
