Scarf season has finally arrived and it’s always a welcome change from summer’s pared down style. That’s one of the things I love most about the four seasons. Just about the time you are sick to death of wearing shorts everyday, fall rolls in and makes getting dressed feel fresh and new again.
I’ve always been a hat lover, but mostly of the ball cap variety. But this fall, I am so excited about all the felt fedoras and floppy hats that are so hot this season! While it does take a little courage to wear something other than a typical cap, it really is such a fun accessory to play with and so eye catching. Plus, I feel all mysterious and kinda cool wearing them. I figure that’s reason enough right there to wear them more often.
Another thing I believe in strongly for the fall and winter months are great basics. You gotta have some staples in your closet. I found this really versatile stripe top during the Anne Taylor sale recently. I love the little leather details on the elbows and hem. Pairing the stripes with a red plaid scarf just seemed a natural choice to me. A good basic distressed denim and some playful pumps finish out the look.
On a side note, when speaking of personal style, I always like to say that it’s fashion, not a funeral…so, whatever your personal style choices are, keep it light, have fun with it and try not to overthink it too much.
But do promise that you’ll give the hat thing a whirl, ok?
