The Beauty of Change in our lives

 

 

 

Do you thrive or struggle when unsolicited change comes ‘a knockin’?

I’d have to say that I’m pretty much a creature of habit as a general rule. While I like to break out of the everyday routine from time to time (hello, vacations!), I find that knowing what I can expect each morning when my feet hit the floor keeps me feeling secure and somewhat ‘in control’ of my life.

Ahhh…..but if my husband’s open heart surgery, and the complications that have come along with it, has taught me anything, it’s that those feelings of being ‘in control’ of how our days are going to play out all the time can give us a false sense of security. Because often times situations can change on a dime and leave you hanging on for dear life to the things you know and feel comfortable with.

 

 

Here’s the great thing about change though.

It has the ability to cause us to grow, move forward and learn something new.

I’d definitely say that being told my husband had 95% blockage in all five arteries of his heart changed me. It shifted my focus from what I thought was really important, to what was truly the important stuff in life. Now, do I still get discouraged when I can’t run the blogging race like I’d like to with everything going on? Absolutely! But, I believe God is using this season to get me to slow down, listen for His voice in the silence, change my perspective and just ‘be’.

It can be a struggle some days, but I’m starting to welcome that old ‘life in the slower lane’ feeling from several years back. At least for the time being, anyway! Ha!

 

 

As I see it, it all comes down to knowing that if we are believers in Jesus, we KNOW that God works ALL things together for the good of those who love HIM.

Change is a positive thing! God is working it out for our good! Even in unexpected, unwanted and tragic circumstances, God has the infinite ability to use it for His purposes….and He will.

So, if you’re in a changing season like I am, I hope you’ll be encouraged! God has it all under control!
