New endeavors, new experiences…
Back in the fall of last year, I’d been thinking about finding ways of getting involved with our local community. I think it’s a great way to both make a difference and get to know other like-minded women. My gorgeous friend Aimee, who is part owner of Boutique Diamonds, moved here more than a year ago and introduced me to the idea of getting involved in our local chapter of The Junior League. She was involved in her area and made the recent transfer over to Baton Rouge.
So I attended a meeting for interested new members several month back, learned the impact that the league has had on our area and left feeling excited about joining this lovely group of women.
Because joining any group can often times be a bit unnerving, Aimee had the great idea to get some of the new members together for a little Girl’s Night Out so we could get to know a few of the faces that would be at events and meetings.
We had such a fun night chatting about family and work over drinks and dinner at the new Kalurah Street Grill here in Baton Rouge. If you are local and haven’t been there, I encourage you to put it on your dinner to-do list soon! The food and atmosphere is wonderful.
My friend planned and set up a really beautiful tablescape for us all to enjoy, complete with personalized place settings and a little take-home gift.
That’s my good friend, Aimee. Gorgeous, right?! So happy she decided to move here and begin working with my husband. So funny how God sets things up sometimes….her significant other is my husband’s best friend of 25+ years! She and I would chat whenever they came in town and we did couples dinners out, but it’s not until she moved here that I’ve come to really know and love the kind, genuine person she is.
We’ve done a lot of fun girl’s day outs together and I love that if there is an occasion or event, she’s is always my first friend to respond with an immediate and excited “Yes!” PLUS, she sells THE most gorgeous diamonds I’ve seen! No joke! If you’re in the market and looking for an honest and fair person to get advice from in that area, she is your girl!!
Anyway, I’m excited about our first official Junior League meeting this coming weekend and can’t wait to see all these pretty faces again and find out what areas I’ll get assigned to help with.
Are any of you guys part of the Junior League in your areas? I’d love to know!
